Walking with the ancestors (24/08/24)
Happening on Saturday 24 August at 9.30am
Sitting in the township of Nhulunbuy, North East Arnhem Land, is a sacred place called Gayŋaru. This place has been a sacred Yolngu meeting place for thousands of years. It is a place that has provided food, medicine, water and shelter. It has held women in women’s business and men in men’s business.
During this special experience, Elder Djapirri Mununggirritj will guide us around this sacred place in the footsteps of her ancestors. We will hear ancient wisdom, we will hear stories, we will learn how to identify important bush medicine and bush tucker plants that have provided food and medicine to Yolngu for thousands of years.

A little about Soulful Soundwaves
Soulful Soundwaves was founded by Maeve and Lorenzo Colombo back in 2016. With a clear vision to help others on their path to wellness, Maeve and Lorenzo have travelled all over Australia and overseas healing hearts and minds with simple and effective strategies that work. Many people have felt the healing potency Maeve and Lorenzo bring - one of truth, love and compassion. Maeve & Lorenzo currently reside on Yolŋu country, have been adopted into Gurruṯu (the Yolŋu kinship system) and have a burning desire to provide a platform for their Yolngu family to share their wisdom with the rest of the world. In collaboration with Djapirri, they now offer an opportunity to explore the ancient path to wellness (both in person and online) called Däwala.
