Every challenge contains an invitation to better ourselves. We might just take it as something that brings strain and stress in our lives and we want to overcome in order for it to disappear. Or we can consider it as an opportunity to come together, help each other, learn how to ask for support and how to give it.
Are you feeling you’re currently going through a chaotic period in your life? Are you seeing chaos all around you and trying your hardest not to get swept away? Here’s a few easy tips and suggestions to help you navigate your way through to safety.
Meditation is a practice that brings balance, bliss, peace, joy into our lives. When you understand how to approach it it becomes an invaluable companion, your best friend, because it really allows us to be the best version of ourselves.
We have to confess, we LOVE a good book – especially a text that can teach and better us from the inside out. You know the book that just seems to flick a switch to ON on the internal circuit board? The type of book that you read and say “I need to own a copy of this” or a book that you’re forever ear-marking the pages as you journey through the profound teachings from cover to cover. Today we share with you our top and favourite books with impact.
One of the things we love most about travelling are the souls we get to meet. Last week we had the fortunate opportunity to meet a man by the name of Daniel Goater, however the universe had to step in to make sure it all happened.
Here’s how the story unfolded…
2020! What a wild ride it’s been thus far and we’re only six months in.
This is the year of major transformation; there is no denying that. Our beliefs, our feelings, our fears and our lives have been shaken. What was normal, is now not there. Has our comfortable life how we knew it vanished? Or how do we go about getting it back?
As I write this, we’re in the depths of a world pandemic. A new virus (one we have never seen before) has very quickly swept its merry way across the world claiming victims as it moves with force. We (humans), the apparent most ‘powerful’ species on the planet, have been stopped in our tracks. We’re in self-enforced isolation, or hibernation. Not just me, not just my family, not just the nation in which I currently call home, the entire world!
Living back in the big smoke, after our stint on the road last year, one of the first things that became apparent while living the city life once again is the pace, the intensity, and how everyone seems to be so disconnected from one another.
It has an air of selfishness, individualism and competitiveness. But how can a city filled with millions and millions of people feel so isolating?
Connection. A simple 10 letter word that, in our opinion, holds the secret to happiness.
For years we were seeking happiness from external sources hoping that one day we would find that thing that would be the answer to all our problems. However, what we didn’t realise was we were seeking ‘pleasure’, which is actually very different to happiness. So what’s the difference and how can we find true happiness?
When we start getting interested in how our body works from an energetic point of view we are constantly searching for tips to understand this new, incredibly interesting realm. One of the first things we discover is that our energy system runs through key points, called chakras, which are main energetic junctions connected to various physiological and neurological points in our body.
Having spent an amazing two months in the lovely town of Mullumbimby, our time here has come to a close as there is somewhere we have to be. Where? Check out our latest blog to find out where.
So what's been going on with #themindymovement? Can't believe it's been four weeks since our last vlog! Time flies when you're having fun. We've been on the move since we last spoke - we've moved from Coffs through to Kingscliff and had a lot of fun along the way.
It’s hard to remember life without Facebook, Insta, Twitter and other platforms of choice, in fact, our younger generations only know life with them. That busy, fragmented life online that consumes so many of our precious minutes in the day has now become the norm.
You gotta take those ups with the downs. We've been busy in and around Forster with an event, playing to the locals (and not of the two-legged kind), and getting through a few car troubles...but we've still got smiles on our faces.
So we did it! We've moved out of our house made of bricks and into our little pop-top van, Mindy. And we've just completed our first week in our cosy and small home on wheels without minimal problems. Yes, of course we've had a few minor hiccups, but that's what makes this adventure so fun, right!?
Today we share some exciting news. We’ve done it! We’ve made some huge, exciting and some may say scary decisions to put the wheels in motion (yes pun intended) for our next exciting chapter for Soulful Soundwaves.
It’s early in the morning and the day is announcing itself with a little breeze, an already bright sun and a deep blue sky. We had arrived in Mullumbimby and were pleasantly welcomed by the atmosphere of the place. You take a walk through this little town for some groceries and it takes you over an hour. Why?
Ellenborough Falls. Watching, wondering and learning, the water that fell and flowed gracefully down the rocks surface, gently reminded us of what's important.
So, it's happening. Soulful Soundwaves is hitting the road and bringing our musical meditation experience to communities between Sydney and Northern NSW.
Turning our little dream into reality was definitely not easy. It challenged us in more ways than we could possibly begin to explain. And it was definitely more times than twice when we asked ourselves “are we absolutely crazy?”
Solli Raphael, the youngest ever winner of the Australian Poetry Slam delivered a touching, deep and compelling message during an encore on the stage of the Sydney Opera House on the 15th of October 2017.
Have you experienced unpleasant, personal unjustified feedback? It hurts! But, why is that? If that person’s rant is so unjustified, so untrue, and therefore so meaningless, why do we feel like a knife just entered between our shoulder blades?
Jet lag. That nasty, annoying condition when your body just doesn’t know what time of day it is. You could fall asleep standing up at 11am and you could get stuck right into work when you should be going to bed at 11pm. Here's how binaural beats can help you align to the right time zone.
Music is such a powerful tool. Listening to music can help pick us up if we’re feeling low, help motivate us to run that little bit longer or help us focus to get through that late evening at work. With all the advancements in science and research, we now know a little more about what’s really going on inside our brain when we listen to music.
Join Soulful Soundwaves and Synergy Lab Sydney for a deeply relaxing and very unique meditative sound experience. Allow the powerful combination of live music and guided meditation to bring you to a calming and nurturing place of stillness.
Light as a feather, fast as the wind. Despite its size, the dragonfly has been held in high regard by many cultures throughout the centuries. Fascinating as they are, they have also inspired us and today we launch our next track - a humble homage to such a meaningful and beautiful creature.
Colour. We all think of colour differently. It’s a personal thing. We may have a favourite colour to wear and we may see colour and shades very differently. But what is most important is to keep the colour alive within ourselves. The fire. The love. The joy. That passion for life.
“You can only help others if you help yourself first.” I've heard this phrase so many times that when it comes up in a conversation it sounds like a refrain on an old record. Repetition doesn’t make it less true, but often when we hear it we’d like to ask that person “I know, I get it, but what does it mean practically? Can you tell me what I can do to help myself?”
Music is a non-verbal language used since the dawn of time, from when the first men used it to accompany ceremonies and rituals, or just as a way to express their feelings. Communicating and inspiring emotions is in fact the primary aim of any form of art, from painting to drama, from poetry to media arts, from dance to music.
Our heart wants us to feel love first, not the pain. Our heart wants us to feel safe, not scared. Our heart wants us to respect each other, not hate one another. Our heart wants to find other hearts that together empower each other to make a HUGE difference to the place we all call home. Our heart wants us to unite with the heart of this country so country and nation can live as one.
